Sara Maldonado claimed that she will surprise the audience with her participation in the telenovela La reina del Sur. The Mexican actress will be having a participacion especial in said telenovela, and will be acting with fellow Mexicans Kate del Castillo and Rafael Amaya. Maldonado will fly to the Bogota, Colombia to start the taping, which has been going on since July 21. Maldonado reveals, "my character is very daring and completely different from those I have done before, which were usually good girls, but that's all I can say for the moment."
La reina del sur is based on the fourteenth novel of Spanish-born Arturo Perez-Reverte. The novel, which relates the life of drug queen Teresa Mendoza, was published in 2002.
